Statement
I am captivated by the beauty of whelk shells that wash up on the beaches of Falmouth. Each shell tells a story of resilience and transformation. My collection of these broken and weathered shells reveals a hidden poetry in their forms and colors.
In my work, I am drawn to the shapes and hues of these natural artifacts. I see in them a vivid language of movement and grace. The fragments, when brought together, transcend their origins, morphing into new, evocative shapes. They transform into dancers leaping and twirling, sensuous flora or abstract compositions.
I celebrate their evolving beauty. Each piece is a testament to the timeless interaction between nature’s endurance and the creative reimagining of its fragments. Through this work, I aim to capture and convey the silent, enduring beauty of the natural world, inviting viewers to appreciate the subtle elegance in the discarded and overlooked.
