My grandfather was reticent, shy and self-effacing, but prolific. He was one of the Philippines’ first short-story writers during the 1920’s who captured the Filipino’s bucolic soul expressed in the English language. My grandmother was a gentle soul, quiet and impassive, but celebrated for her beauty and face.
These were his rimless spectacles; these were her hair accessories used to hold her long flowing hair in place.
In this piece, I celebrate their individualities, and pay homage to their union of quiet respect and understanding.
