MMXX

MMXX is a seemingly black mosaic with hidden pools of color. A reaction to the events of 2020 and beyond, MMXX contains only one continuous line of andamento, while all others are interrupted in some way, which reflect the turbulent events of the period. Soma andamento lines are contrary to the rest of the flow of movement. They stand in for the most salient events of the year represented and the period of 2021 when the mosaic was crafted: the murder of people of color on the hands of police, the attack on the U.S. Capitol, the Black Lives Matter movement, milestones in the global pandemic, etc.
